Minerva Control the Game, Defeat IBM BIG BLUE 14–7

Fujifilm Ebina Minerva AFC secured a disciplined 14–7 victory over IBM BIG BLUE at Tokyo Dome, controlling the game with efficiency and composure.

Minerva struck first with a 38-yard touchdown pass from QB Shevan Cordeiro to WR Motoki Yamaguchi, capitalizing on an early turnover. IBM responded with an impressive 90-yard drive capped by QB Wright Jiya’s touchdown pass to Reece Horn, but that would be their only score of the game.

The difference came in execution and control. Minerva dominated time of possession (28:54) and converted 60% of their third downs, compared to IBM’s 34%, sustaining drives and limiting IBM’s rhythm.

Cordeiro led the offense with both a passing and rushing touchdown, while also contributing 48 rushing yards, showcasing his dual-threat ability. On the ground, Minerva leaned on a balanced attack, totaling 123 rushing yards to keep IBM’s defense on the field.

IBM moved the ball effectively through the air (216 passing yards) but failed to capitalize, missing two field goals and losing a key fumble early that shifted momentum.

Despite a late push into Minerva territory, IBM could not find the end zone again, as Minerva’s defense held firm to close out the game.
