MATCH REPORT

Alvark Tokyo survived one of the most extraordinary games in B.LEAGUE history on Friday night, defeating the Chiba Jets 138–131 after four overtime periods at LaLa arena TOKYO-BAY.

The B.LEAGUE PREMIER showdown lasted 60 minutes and became only the second quadruple-overtime game in league history.

Neither side was able to create decisive separation through regulation or the first three overtime periods. Chiba repeatedly found ways to extend the contest, while Alvark continued to answer under increasing fatigue and pressure.

Eventually, in the fourth overtime, Alvark finally broke through, with Shuto Ando and D.J. Hogg hitting crucial three-pointers to secure a remarkable road victory.

Chiba Takes Control Before Alvark Responds

The game began evenly, with the opening quarter ending 26–26.

Chiba found its rhythm in the second quarter and built the largest lead of the night at 10 points late in the period. The Jets outscored Alvark 29–21 in the quarter and carried the advantage into halftime.

Alvark responded after the break.

The visitors gradually reduced the deficit and entered the fourth quarter trailing by only two points, setting the stage for a dramatic final period.

From that point forward, neither team was able to pull away.

A Chaotic Finish Sends the Game to Overtime

With less than 20 seconds remaining in regulation, Chiba produced a late surge.

Shuta Hara connected from three-point range with 17 seconds remaining. After an Alvark turnover, Yuta Watanabe scored to bring the Jets level.

Alvark responded immediately.

Lachlan Olbrich converted two free throws with nine seconds left to restore Tokyo’s lead, but Chiba still had one final opportunity.

With just 1.6 seconds remaining, Nate Williams scored to tie the game again and send the contest into overtime.

It would take another 20 minutes of basketball to determine a winner.

Three Overtimes Still Cannot Separate the Teams

The first overtime followed the same pattern as regulation.

Ryan Rossiter scored with eight seconds remaining to bring Alvark level, before Chiba had an opportunity to win the game on its final possession.

Yuki Togashi’s attempt did not fall.

In the second overtime, Rossiter gave Alvark a late advantage from long range, only for Williams to answer again and extend the contest.

Alvark then opened a five-point lead during the third overtime, but Chiba once again fought back.

Luke Maye tied the game at 121–121, forcing an almost unthinkable fourth overtime.

Olbrich Makes His Mark in Just His Third Game With Alvark

One of the most significant individual performances of the night came from Alvark newcomer Lachlan Olbrich.

The 22-year-old Australian big man joined Alvark Tokyo ahead of the 2026–27 season after spending the previous year with the Chicago Bulls organization and the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G League.

Friday’s matchup against Chiba was only his third B.PREMIER appearance for Alvark.

Yet in one of the longest and most demanding games in league history, Olbrich produced 33 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, providing scoring, rebounding and playmaking throughout the 60-minute battle.

His impact was not limited to the box score.

Olbrich also converted the two late free throws in regulation that briefly put Alvark back in front before Chiba forced overtime.

His performance followed a promising second appearance against the Ryukyu Golden Kings, when he recorded 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. The early progression suggests that the new addition is already becoming an increasingly important part of Alvark’s frontcourt rotation.

Against Chiba, that growing presence became impossible to ignore.

Ando and Hogg Finally End the Marathon

By the fourth overtime, both teams were operating under extreme fatigue.

Alvark finally found the separation it had been unable to create throughout the previous 55 minutes.

With 1:28 remaining, Shuto Ando knocked down a three-pointer to extend Tokyo’s advantage.

Then, with 27 seconds remaining, former Chiba forward D.J. Hogg delivered another decisive shot from beyond the arc against his former team.

After four quarters and four overtime periods, Alvark finally closed out the victory, 138–131.

Huge Performances Across the Floor

Olbrich was one of several Alvark players to produce remarkable numbers during the extended contest.

Kyonte Johnson finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds and five assists, while Hogg contributed 24 points.

Taiki Osakabe added 14 points, Kai Toews scored 13, and Ryan Rossiter made his presence felt in a different way.

Rossiter finished with only six points but collected an extraordinary 24 rebounds, while also adding six assists, three blocks and two steals.

As a team, Alvark recorded 74 rebounds and 33 assists in the marathon victory.

Williams Explodes for 48 Points

On the other side, Nate Williams delivered the biggest scoring performance of the night.

Williams finished with 48 points and six rebounds, repeatedly producing crucial baskets as Chiba fought to keep the game alive.

Yuta Watanabe added 22 points and eight rebounds, while Yuki Togashi recorded 20 points and seven assists.

Luke Maye contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds, including the basket that forced the fourth overtime.

A Game That Will Be Remembered

Four overtime periods.

Sixty minutes of basketball.

A combined 269 points.

Repeated comeback attempts.

Multiple potential game-winning possessions.

And a series of individual performances that grew more remarkable as the night continued.

Chiba repeatedly found a way to extend the game, but Alvark eventually created the decisive separation in the fourth overtime.

For Olbrich, the night also represented an early milestone in his new career in Japan.

Only three games into his time with Alvark Tokyo, the newly acquired big man delivered 33 points, 14 rebounds and six assists in one of the most demanding games the league has seen.

But the larger story belonged to the game itself.

Two of Japanese basketball’s most established clubs produced a 60-minute battle that required four overtime periods before Alvark Tokyo finally emerged with a 138–131 victory.
