MATCH REPORT

Daniel Barker catches three touchdown passes as Fujitsu scores 27 unanswered points to take control in the second half.

CHIBA, Japan — August 30, 2026 — The Fujitsu Frontiers defeated IBM BIG BLUE 41-19 in the 2026 X Premier at Aobanomori Sports Plaza Athletic Stadium, powered by five total touchdowns from quarterback Tsubasa Takagi and a game-changing kickoff return by Kazuki Kimura.

Daniel Barker was named game MVP after catching five passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Takagi completed 21 of 34 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns while also scoring on a seven-yard run.

IBM struck first after a blocked punt gave the offense possession at the Fujitsu 22-yard line. Quarterback Yuki Masamoto capitalized on the opportunity by connecting with Reece Horn for a 23-yard touchdown, giving BIG BLUE a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.

The Frontiers responded with a 75-yard drive that ended with Takagi’s seven-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. Takagi then found Barker for a 65-yard touchdown on Fujitsu’s next scoring possession, putting the Frontiers ahead 14-7.

Yuto Fukuoka converted a 33-yard field goal shortly before halftime to bring IBM within four points at 14-10.

BIG BLUE continued to apply pressure after the break. Fukuoka’s second field goal, this time from 25 yards, cut the deficit to 14-13.

Fujitsu answered immediately, however, as Takagi connected with Barker for a 43-yard touchdown. Masamoto then led IBM on a 78-yard drive and found Horn for a seven-yard score, narrowing the margin to 21-19. BIG BLUE’s ensuing two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

The momentum shifted decisively on the following kickoff.

Kimura returned the kick 99 yards for a touchdown, restoring Fujitsu’s nine-point advantage just 15 seconds after IBM had pulled within two. The Frontiers carried a 28-19 lead into the fourth quarter and did not allow BIG BLUE to score again.

Takagi extended the lead with an eight-yard touchdown pass to Koki Miyake early in the final period. He later completed his fourth touchdown pass of the game, finding Barker from 32 yards out to complete the scoring.

Fujitsu finished with 393 total yards, including 307 through the air, and converted five of 10 third-down attempts. The Frontiers also produced 144 kickoff-return yards, highlighted by Kimura’s touchdown.

Miyake added 70 rushing yards on seven carries, while Samajie Grant recorded five receptions for 76 yards.

Despite the loss, IBM received strong performances from Masamoto and Horn. Masamoto completed 21 of 31 passes for 257 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Horn caught nine passes for 144 yards and accounted for both of BIG BLUE’s touchdowns.

IBM remained within one score for much of the first three quarters, but Kimura’s kickoff-return touchdown and Fujitsu’s two fourth-quarter scores turned a competitive contest into a commanding 41-19 victory.
